Founded in the late 1990s, VCD initially brought chemical products for hot-dip galvanizing to the French market. In 2008, the company was acquired by the Floridienne Group and is gradually expanding into the export market.

In October 2024, a private group acquired VCD, creating the company VCD Chemicals and partnering with a galvanizer that already belonged to this group. This allows VCD Chemicals to develop new products and conduct “full-scale” tests with the sister company.

In early 2025, VCD Recycling was established near Rotterdam, with the activity of recovering dezincification baths originating from thermal galvanizing plants in the Benelux and surrounding countries. The recovery of these baths started in March 2025, and in time these several thousand tons of solutions will be used for the production of zinc chloride and various types of flux, which will be sold back to galvanizing plants: a nice example of circular economy and recycling of liquid waste, but developments in this area are not yet complete, only the first phase has been completed for now.
