The bridge over the Buurserbeek between Eibergen and Haaksbergen faced a weight restriction in 2021 for safety reasons. This caused a lot of inconvenience for trucks and other heavy traffic, which had to detour via the new N18 since then. This detour led to economic losses for local business owners.

To limit the inconvenience, in consultation between Rijkswaterstaat and the municipality of Haaksbergen it was decided to construct a temporary bypass next to the existing bridge. This bypass will make it possible to replace the old bridge. The temporary solution consists of a Balk bridge by Janson Bridging, constructed of two spans of 13.5 meters with an intermediate support in the stream. A pedestrian and bicycle bridge has been constructed on both sides, keeping light traffic separated from other traffic.

Modular bridge systems: customized spans

The unique modular nature of this type of bridges allows building blocks to be linked together. This allows bridges to be easily extended by combining several sections. For example, a span of 27 meters can be realized with two elements of 13.5 meters or three elements of 9 meters. Thanks to the dismountable connections, the systems are not only easy to assemble, but also dismountable and reusable.

Hot dip galvanizing: durable protection for intensive use

Janson Bridging chooses hot-dip galvanizing as a preservation method whenever possible. This method offers numerous advantages:

  • Robust protection: The hard zinc coating protects the panels from damage during assembly, transport and use.
  • Longevity: The zinc coating lasts for years without the need for re-galvanizing.
  • Weather resistance: Whether the bridge is located in the hot south of Italy or in the cold north of Sweden, the zinc coating provides optimal protection against all weather conditions.
  • Precision: The thin zinc coating allows for trouble-free bolt and pin joints.
  • Full coverage: The zinc bath ensures that even hard-to-reach areas, such as tubes and corners, are fully protected.
  • Global acceptance: Hot-dip galvanizing is a widely accepted technique, performed by certified suppliers. As a result, customers can rely on high-quality documentation.
  • Flexibility in finishing: If desired, the zinc coating can be combined with a duplex system, giving the bridge a desired color.
