This building combines quirky design with maximum efficiency. The free span of 30 meters and the externally located structure create an open, column-less interior that makes the best use of the available volume. Instead of a costly pile foundation, the facades are constructed as robust steel trusses, distributing the load evenly over the entire perimeter. This clever construction principle not only saves costs but also increases stability.

Functional choices here go hand in hand with landscape integration. There are deliberately no gutters: the generous overhangs drain rainwater into the surrounding marshy meadowland, which is planted with local pollard willows and moisture-loving vegetation.

Hot-dip galvanized steel – optimal coastal protection

The entire steel structure is hot-dip galvanized to resist the aggressive influence of salty sea air. This zinc coating provides long-term protection against corrosion and minimizes maintenance, which is crucial in a windy coastal environment.

The large pre-hanging canopy protects the building from rain intrusion, while the industrial, shiny surface of the galvanized steel gives the design a powerful appearance. This creates a building that is both aesthetically and technically suited to its surroundings – sleek, strong and durable for the long term.
