SOLUTIONS FOR A CIRCULAR ECONOMY

The European Galvanizers Association (EGGA) is the trade association for the general galvanizing industry in Europe. It is a federation of 14 national associations representing the industry in Europe.

The ‘European Initiative for Galvanizing in Sustainable Construction’ began at the beginning of this century with analyses by various stakeholders, the end result being the publication of ‘Hot-dip galvanizing and sustainable construction: a guide for architects’ in 2008 led by Professor Tom Woolley – a radical advocate of green building. He brought a refreshing and inspiring take on hot-dip galvanizing and its connection to sustainable design.

This new publication explains how the galvanizing industry is prioritizing the challenges associated with climate change, and how the industry is subscribing to the principles of the circular economy that is now firmly rooted in both policy and practice.

Galvanized steel can provide innovative solutions that optimize the durability of steel structures and components and facilitate circularity. These solutions can be easily implemented using this proven and simple method of protecting steel.
