With the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) of hot-dip galvanized steel, drawn up by the European General Galvanizers Association (EGGA), you have objective and scientifically based data on the environmental impact of galvanizing over its entire life cycle.

The EPD enables informed material choices and supports designers, architects and specifiers in realizing sustainable and circular projects.

The declared unit in this SPD is:
one year protection by hot-dip galvanizing according to EN ISO 1461 of a 1 m x 1 m and 8 mm thick steel plate, calculated on the basis of a 63-year service life. This clear reference enables correct interpretation and comparison of performance within life cycle analyses (LCA).

For applications outside this context, it is important not to simply extrapolate the data. For project-specific interpretations, it is recommended that this be done in consultation with EGGA. Additionally, for more in-depth analyses, a detailed life cycle inventory (LCI) dataset is available.
